In A Blink...

I just dropped my baby off at Kindergarten, and I do not like it one bit. It doesn't really feel fair that they get to keep my baby away from me all day long.

However, our morning was storybook perfect. We don't get many 'storybook perfect' mornings around here, but today, it truly was. I woke up extra early at 6:30. The rest of the house was still sleeping. I snuck into Remi's room to sneak a peak at my littler Kindergartener, then hopped into the shower. About 10 minutes later, Remi popped his head in to say good morning. He requested cinnamon rolls and cinnamon toast for breakfast and told me he was going to go make his bed and brush his teeth... which he did. He ate, watched a little Octonauts, got dressed and had the sweetest little attitude all morning.

As I walked him to his class, he wouldn't hold my hand, but was really sweet about it. I could tell he was afraid it was going to hurt my feelings. I just smiled. When we got to his classroom, a lot of the other kids were already there sitting quietly at their desks. He chose his desk and sat down. He was nervous, I was fighting back tears. I had to run back to the car to get his Kleenex, so I gave him a quick little kiss. When I got back he was still sitting there with his nervous little eyes. I told him I loved him and I could tell he was a little too embarrassed for another kiss, so I just kinda waved.... I can't remember a I time I couldn't kiss my boys... and I left bawling like a baby.

So, for the first time, my house feels just a little too quiet, a little too big and maybe a bit too peaceful.

And just like that, in a blink it seems, everything has changed...

He looks so sweet sleeping and then all dressed and ready for school. His backpack is almost as big as he is. I can't wait to hear the report of his first day. Thanks so much for sharing!
