A Study of Constellations...

Remi's rank advancement in Cub Scouts is in several weeks. In his Scout book, there are many different sections each focusing on different adventure themes and each having different requirements to get a badge in that area. In order to advance in rank, there are 6 required adventures and one elective. Anything after that is extra in which the Cub can get badges for.

Last week, we focused on an extra area that centered on stars and the constellations. This was right up Remi's alley with his love for Science. There were 8 different activities we had to do in order to complete this section. Researching constellations, naming the stars, creating your own constellation, making a constellation out of found objects, visiting a planetarium and looking at the night sky to find what we researched. After we did all that, he had to present to his den what he learned. He was very proud and did an amazing job getting up in front of his den and talking about his research.

Ya'll, I feel like Cub Scouts has been such a blessing in Remi's life and I cannot say enough good things about it. Remi has always had a mind that works a bit different. His need to explore, research, build and create is so much stronger than most boys I know. Cub Scouts encourages this without grades or judgement. He gets to get dirty doing boy things but it also encourages manners, faith, Science, family and working together with others.

I sure am proud of my little Tiger... soon to be Bear Scout...
