The very next week after school ended, the boys dove right into summer with basketball camp. RY Core Elite Camp was pretty intense, starting at 9 AM, not ending until 3 PM and overall an incredible program. Remi won a medal for Knock Out in his age group and Roen brought home a special t-shirt for being what Coach Reed calls a 'separator'.
My favorite part though, is the fact that the whole program is based on this scripture:
I can do all things through him who gives me strength- Philippians 4:13
The very last day, I popped in to see the closing ceremony and sitting in the stands, watching all 100+ kids ranging from elementary up to high school, bowing their heads, being led in prayer by the head coach was something that brought tears to my eyes. God has been ripped from every place imaginable it seems, and to watch someone with such a high role of leadership, intentionally putting God back in, is something you just don't see anymore.
The fact that the camp shirts have this scripture on them, the fact that Roen noticed the back of his necklace has the same scripture on it that Coach Reed preaches and the fact that on the walls of our high school gym you will find painted pep rally signs with Phil 4:13 is what sets him and his athletes apart.
I do not know our coach well at all- in fact, I don't know that I have ever formally met him, but I can tell you that any coach that chooses to base his methods on scripture is doing work far greater than coaching basketball.
So proud to be a Wildcat!!

I love everything about this post! You are spot on in your words. If more people would put God first in their lives, we would see a dramatic change! Way to start the summer! Congratulations to the boys!! Love y’all bunches!
