Spring Golf...

Our first official spring tournament is in the books! We decided to join up with the East Texas branch of Junior PGA for better courses and more available tee times. This tournament had us traveling over 2 hours to the Pinnacle Golf Club in Mabank. This course was covered in beautiful homes, water and very narrow fairways. 

The boys had tee times too close to allow for Micah to caddy them both. With Roen being in a group with one of his best buddies, I decided to caddy for him so that I would have help from Hudson's dad if needed- there are so many rules in this game and these tournaments can get pretty intense, and depending on who you get grouped with, violating a rule could result in being disqualified if turned in. 

Besides the one hole where Roen had to tee off for two provisional shots, he made it a pretty easy job. That boy shot the fairway dead on the entire tournament. He got caught up in a sand trap once, but even with these little offsets, he was able to pull in the gold! Roen is a great little golfer, but what truly sets him apart is his mental game. When others start getting in their own head from bad shots and holes, Roen stays even-keeled and pushes on. 

Remi has grown so much in his game. Honestly, when he is in his element, working with Coach Casey, he often looks better than his little brother. Where Remi needs work is letting go of bad shots and just moving on. Where Roen thrives on recovery shots, Remi aims for perfection. I always tell the boys, it's not IF you hit a bad shot- because that will happen, it is what you do after that will get you those wins. Remi had one really bad hole, that really did him in, but Micah said he had some great shots and played well! For me, it's always about attitude- I love that these brothers have each other's back and know how to be proud of one another!
